Make changes to site hierarchy based on specific site rules

You can configure the site hierarchy by defining reporting relationships between positions using site-specific hierarchy rules.

The site hierarchy defines the visibility between positions within a site, allowing managers to see the positions and employees that report under them.

Make changes to the site hierarchy

To make changes to the site hierarchy based on specific site rules, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Admin tool.

  2. Click Config, then click Hierarchy.

  3. Click Site on the top page, then enter the site name in the search box.

  4. Click the Add child position icon.

    • For example, if the General Manager should oversee the Assistant Manager, and the Assistant Manager should oversee all other users, you can use the -1 rule. The -1 rule helps gather users not covered by the configuration rules.

      1. Click Add child General Manager.

      2. Click Add child Assistant Manager.

      3. Click Add child and select All Remaining Positions (-1).

  5. Click Save, then click Site Rebuilt.

šŸ“ŒNote: It can take up to an hour for the updates to show on your site configuration.

Avoid creating a loop

Each job title should appear only once in a site hierarchy. Adding the same job title at multiple levels creates a loop, which prevents the hierarchy from working correctly.

Create a loop example

The example below demonstrates how a hierarchy loop can be created:

  1. Add General Manager.

  2. Add Duty Manager as a child position.

  3. Add another child position beneath Duty Manager.

  4. Add Duty Manager again under a different branch of the same hierarchy.

  5. Save the hierarchy.

Because Duty Manager has been added more than once, the hierarchy contains a loop. Each job title should only appear once within a site hierarchy. Use All Remaining Positions (-1) to include any remaining job titles instead of adding the same position multiple times.
