Reset an employee's password generating a recovery code

What to do if an employee forgets their password.

If an employee has forgotten their password, and you're a manager, you can generate a recovery code for them, send them a password reset email, or resend their verification email.

Generate a recovery code

⚠️Important: Managers can't generate recovery codes for users that have linked accounts across multiple organisations, in this case, the user would need to reset password using their email.

There are a few different ways to generate a recovery code in CPL Learning. To do this, follow the steps in the relevant section below. Once you've done this, the user needs to go to the login page and enter the recovery code within 24 hours.

People section

  1. Log into console, then click your initials in the top-right.

  2. Click Account or Manage Account.

  3. Click the People tab then click the relevant user.

  4. Click Generate recovery code.


Manage team members

  1. Log into console, then click your initials in the top-right.

  2. Click Manage team members then click the relevant user.

  3. Click Generate recovery code.

    • You can see the employee username once they verify it.

  4. Ask the user to enter the recovery code on the console.


Admin tool

  1. Log into the Admin Tool, then click Employee.

  2. Click the relevant employee then, under User Details, click View User Details.

  3. Complete the security questions or click Override.

  4. Click Next, then click Get A Recovery Code.

    • Send the recovery code to the employee's email, as this won't be sent out automatically.


Send a reset password email

To send a reset password email, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into the Admin Tool, then click Employee.

  2. Click the relevant employee then, under User Details, click View User Details.

  3. Complete the security questions then click Next.

  4. Click Email password reset.

Once you've done this, the user needs to follow the link they receive via email.


Resend verification email

To resend the verification email, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into the Admin Tool, then click Employee.

  2. Click the relevant employee then, under User Details, click View User Details.

  3. Complete the security questions then click Next.

  4. Click Resend Verification Email.

Once you've done this, the user needs to follow the link they receive via email.

🤓 Tip: From this page, you can check the user's username to ensure they enter it correctly.
